Let's see..where to begin to catch up. First thing on our agenda once we got out of the hospital was to get little Alexis a passport. Yes, she (as small as she is) has to have a passport in order to travel. Most people once they are released from the hospital go straight home. Not us. When went to the photo store to get Alexis passport photos. Just try and imagine getting a head shot of a 5 day old without any adult hands in the picture (passport regulations). Her eyes are shut in the photo and she looks like a butterball. A few days later we had our embassy appointment and applied for the passport, U.S. birth certificate and social security card. Scott and I both had extra pages put in our passports because we managed to fill it up the last two years. I only had a few spaces left and wouldn't have made it through the end of the year. Perfect timing for an embassy visit. Now our passports are big and bulky. It was our first time to any embassy. I though it would be more grand but it was just a super secured office building that we were in. We received Alexis' passport so now we were able to book a trip to England to show my parents the Cliffs of Dover. England gives you a stamp as you enter in so Alexis had her first passport stamp at 3 weeks old. I had mine at age 25. Let's hope she won't need extra pages anytime soon!
We took the ferry cruise ship over to England with our car. This is the one we've taken before that we drive our car on and then go up top and hang out for 2 hours. It's all enclosed (like a cruise ship) with restaurants, casino and shops. My mom had never been to England so it was the perfect day trip. We did a mini tour of Dover and then went to Canterbury. I was thrilled to see that Canterbury had a GAP. After wearing maternity clothes for 9 months I was excited to get a new pair jeans. (In case your wondering...I've lost all of my pregnancy pounds and am back to normal. Just have to tighten up the abs now!) We didn't make it to London because we didn't have enough time and I wasn't quite ready to take Alexis on the TUBE touring around all day. She was great for Dover and Canterbury so we didn't want to push our luck with London. Plus, we were squished in our Audi. 4 adults and one baby with a large car seat.

Thankfully, the next week we were able to trade in company cars and get a larger one. Scott is now the proud driver of his BMW 3 series wagon. Happy Father's Day to him, right! More room, lots of gadgets, smoother ride and a navigation system we've named Bonnie. Bonnie the Beamer. So long to our previous nav system, Friedel.
My parents were here for a little over two weeks. It was great to have them help out with Alexis. Especially when they took the middle of the night shifts. Alexis had a great time with them too. She especially liked looking at my dad's mustache and my mom's glasses. Too cute! We can't wait to see them again in November! Thanks again mom and dad for everything!
Scott and I are officially on our own now. The house isn't as clean, dinner isn't always on time, the tivo is full, and the ironing is building up but Miss Alexis is a joy to have. We're working on getting her on a schedule. We've had her on a mini routine but with all of the company wanting to hold her (and who wouldn't...she's such a doll.) she's gotten used to falling asleep in some one's arms. We're working on her falling asleep on her own. It's day 2 and things are improving. The book says this particular technique promotes better sleep habits and independence. Who knows...but it's worth a try!
