Weird things have been happening....
I haven't had a Dakota sighting since I wrote about it last October so I figured I'd write about more weird things that have been happening in hopes that they would stop.
I guess to preface these incidents I should tell you that when Shannon came out, we went around the house and took photos of each room and then looked at them on the computer to make sure there were no white/bright spots (it's suppose to indicate a presence, from what Sylvia Brown says on Montel.) I'm not a believer in that sort of thing but for the sake of having fun, I tried it.
The 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors were clear. No spots. Now onto the cellar...Shannon had to basically push me down it to go in it. It's divided into about 5 sections and then inside the 5th sections is a secret door which Scott told me about (I'd never looked in it) But, on this dark, gloomy, rainy and cloudy day, Shannon and I opened the door and snapped a picture. For some reason we looked at the picture right after we took it. Rays of bright light...every where on the picture. Please note, I did say it was rainy, cloudy, gloomy and dark outside and the light inside the cellar is only in the stairwell..far away. So, where did that light come from? From that point on I thought I "released" the ghost. Ok, onto the more recent stories:
A few weeks back I came down to make breakfast one morning about 6:45 and the right burner of the stove was on low. Very, very odd since I am slightly obsessive compulsive about making sure the stove is off for fear of fire. The night before I remember cleaning the stove which means the burners were off. We have one of the flat top stoves so it had to be cooled off before I cleaned it or I would have burned myself. Scott thought I might have hit the knob while I was cleaning, but I remember checking it before we went upstairs for the night. Just to prove that's not what happened, I acted like I was cleaning the stove and bumped the knob and it didn't move. You actually have to put pressure on the knob to turn it. I know without a doubt I turned off the stove the night before. Did the ghost not want me cooking anymore?
We just bought a bench to go with our kitchen table. I put all of the place settings out since our table now seats 8 instead of 6. I went over to the napkin drawer to get the two extra napkins and the extra two napkins were not there. I had just seen them a few weeks before! (Please try for a moment not to think I'm crazy and give me the benefit of the doubt) I've spent the last year organizing our entire house getting rid of all of our junk and making sure everything has a specific space. The napkins go in the napkin drawer with the rest of the linen napkins. The extra napkin rings were in there but no napkins. Your probably saying I only bought 6. NO! I had 8! I originally had 4, then my mother-in-law shipped me 2 more and I bought 2 more. A total of 8. I searched the entire buffet..no napkins. I searched the entire house like a crazy woman....no napkins. Scott quickly reminded me that it was probably the ghost.
I swear, I'm not crazy! But, of course....it would only happen to me!
We're off to Scotland on Wednesday night since it's a Belgium holiday Thursday and Friday. The ghosts have the house to themselves.
Oh, please don't let this discourage anyone from coming to visit us. Weird things only happen to me. As Sylvia Brown would say, " You are the one who released it."
