I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas....and what it would be like to hang out at the ATL airport for 2 days!

We left Belgium for Colorado on the 21st of December and officially arrived on the 23rd around 1 am. You would think that we would have hated spending 2 days sitting in an airport but we were upbeat the entire time. When there are 120 stand-by passengers to Denver you to tend to make polite conversation with them to see if they are doing anything differently than you are to get there. Most of the 120 stand-by passengers were angry, tired and not pleasant to be around. They kept asking Scott and I how we could still be smiling. Well it's simple, we were just glad to be in the United States where at least we could understand what was being told to us instead of fighting the foreign language barrier. Plus, we did have ipods, dvd players, laptops, cell phone - your normal airplane necessities (or luxuries.) Actually, we only really used the dvd player once while waiting. We were more intrigued about the process of getting out of the airport. In the end, our nosiness helped us obtain a confirmed seat.
We had a great time with the family in Keystone. We went tubing and snow mobiling and took a sleigh ride Christmas Eve. We left Colorado on 27th and headed back to Atlanta. Atlanta didn't let us down - we arrived right at rush hour and it took us 2 hours to go 45 minutes. Needless to say we arrived in Albany late and had our time cut short there as well. We visited my side of the family for the next few days and left a tad early for our last minute New Year's Eve trip.
