It's NASCAR season - even in Belgium

Back in December Scott went "karting" with work. We didn't even know go-karts existed in Belgium. Scott had a good time but was bummed he only took 2nd place. He said he was a little bored going "round and round" by himself so he slowed down for some friendly competition. A little competition turned into Scott taking home the 2nd place trophy instead of the 1st.

It was a real "you got 2nd place" trophy. Turns out this is serious "karting." I didn't ask too many questions the first time because I just figured it was your normal go-karts. You know - red, yellow, green, go. Boy was I in for a laugh. Apparently, there's a pre-race safety instruction, sizing for uniforms and helmets, a 12-lap time trial, the big race of 18 laps, and the winner's circle. No wonder he was bummed about 2nd. They had to stand on a podium and go through the trophy presentation. 1st place probably got their national anthem played. Just kidding about the anthem.

Scott is here while I'm writing this and he just informed me *laugh* that the race suits and helmets were not made for Americans. He had to get the largest suit which was still too short and too tight. (please see pics below for additional laughs) He also had the largest helmet and b/c the helmet was larger than the rest he didn't have a shield.

This past Tuesday Scott had the opportunity to try karting again. Despite the tight suit and shield-less helmet he was out for #1. As you can see by the pics below he was successful. Even in his work shoes. *giggle*

Love the winner's circle motto: If you can win...you can be a champion!
Scott's number 7 (if you couldn't tell already with the short suit)
Congrats Scott on a job well done!

Oh boy did we get a laugh out of that one... Damon was in the other room (doing sit ups, believe it or not?!) so I read it to him out loud and nearly choked on my laughter. Reminds me a little of our big people, small raft adventure a few years back.

"...Not only did we have 7 people, rather than the normal 6, but our combined weight was quite possibly double the rest of the boats. But he was a trooper, he pulled out a smoke and tightened our lifejackets so tight we could barely breathe. All the men in our boat wore extra large lifejackets which is quite possibly the funniest thing I've ever seen, because it is designed to leave lots of room for a belly, so it's all tight up around the neck and chest area. Use your imagination...
"

If you want to read the entire adventure. I believe it was Lacy I made reference to in the second paragraph (wink)... go to my site and search "rafting"

Love and miss you guys!
